Saint FRANCIS comprises a team associated with Church of England churches within the south of Tenerife. And, you will find few things we do collectively most of the time, because most of us belong to 1 church only.
Because the assistant priest, I wanted to find a method of reminding myself and others that our chapels are closer together, and more connected, than we realise generally.
With this is mind, my hubby Paul and I, and, of course , Billy the dog, are embarking on a stroll, from east to west, becoming a member of up the churches of San Blas, San Eugenio and Los Gigantes.
We’ re intending to walk along the coast, as much as we are able to, and we believe the distance will be regarding 60km (37 miles). But it’ s hard to be sure because several areas don’ t have a seaside path, so we’ ll become figuring it out as we complement.
As well as the opportunity to confirm that our churches are, literally, inside “ walking distance” of each various other, although perhaps not as a regular happening, this is also something of an individual journey for me.
Once i came to Tenerife 4½ years ago, I had been so ill that I struggled in order to climb a flight of stairways. If someone had told me after that I’ d be dealing with a walk like this now, or perhaps running in 10km events, I would were extremely sceptical.
Yet thanks to the grace of God, as well as the Tenerife sunshine, here I am!
We’ re setting off through San Blas at 12 midday this Sunday (3 rd Feb) stopping with regard to coffee at 10am at San Eugenio on Wednesday (6 th) and completing our journey during the 6pm program at Los Gigantes on Weekend (10 th).
