New year of guided tours launched in Murcia

A NEW annual programme of guided tours has been launched in Murcia as part of an initiative joining 26 municipalities.

The Ministry of Economic, Tourism and Employment Development, together with the Network of Tourist Offices of the Region of Murcia, has launched the programme, which has over 100 tours on offer throughout the year, with most of them free to the public.

Over the next 12 months there will be experiences for all ages such as hiking trails, theatrical, boat, cultural, cave and eco tours.

A new feature this year is that bookings can now be made online via the website, and participants of the tours will be invited to give their feedback on the site. They will also be conducted in English. “The initiative has sought to respond to the demand of tourists and the many English-speaking residents of the region and neighbouring regions,” explained director of the Institute of Tourism, Manuel Fernandez-Delgado.

He added that the programme, now in its seventh year “tries to present the main attractions of cultural, historical and natural heritage of the different municipalities in Murcia through official tourist guides, technical offices or stage actors.”
