EXHIBITIONS IN SPAIN

The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid is offering a retrospective on this leading figure in Mexican conceptual art, who is also an important theorist of the post-1960s international avant-garde.

Ulises Carrión was an artist whose work is difficult to classify. He was always looking for new strategies for the expression of culture. His creations investigate trends, especially regarding structure and language. The title of the show, “Dear reader. Don’t read” is a good example of a recurring theme in his work: his ambivalent relationship with literature. A total of 350 pieces are on show, including books, magazines, videos, performances, mail art and documents relating to his activities as a curator, editor, art theorist, lecturer and writer.
