One of Madrid’ s most important summertime fiestas together with San Cayetano plus San Lorenzo. It is held within honour of the Virgen de una Paloma (Virgin of the Dove) and it is a great time to enjoy the atmosphere for the streets, with people in the traditional nearby chulapa costume, and dancing the chotis .
This fiesta is mainly famous on Plaza de la Paja, Calle Toledo, Plaza de todas las Visitillas, and the streets around the parish church of La Virgen sobre la Paloma. As well as religious customs like the procession of the Virgin, you can find competitions, music of every kind upon outdoor stages, tapas routes… Specifically after sunset, the crowds turn out to enjoy themselves, have a drink in the bars set up outdoors, and see the particular streets decorated with lights plus garlands.
